Hello, I am Gillian, an Australian dietitian and nutritionist recently transplanted to the heart of the Peak District in England.  A country girl by birth, I am thrilled to be in such a beautiful place, although it is rather greener than I am used to!

Holding a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics qualifies me to offer sound, evidence based advice on nutrition. I also use a mindful, or intuitive eating approach in my practice. This means, instead of laying down restrictive rules on what you should and should not eat, I instead look at your individual needs and preferences, and consult you on your lifestyle, to provide you with sensible, attractive, and above all, practical options to address your particular nutritional requirements.

I am qualified to provide nutritional advice on a number of different life stages, although I have particular interest in nutrition for pregnancy, and all stages of childhood development.  I am also very interested in how nutrition science is communicated to the public.  I  support the individual’s right to choose the diet and foods they prefer to eat, which means if you don’t want to eat bread (for example), then I will advise you to ensure your diet is still nutritionally sound.  I want you to be happy with your eating choices, not eating specific foods because you’ve been told they are obligatory.

I am  recognised as a Registered Dietitian here in the UK, by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).  I am also a member of the British Dietetics Association (BDA).  I am also furthering my knowledge by studying a Masters of Arts (Writing) as I believe there is a need for accurate, unbiased nutrition communication.

I hope to talk to you soon about your specific nutrition needs.  If it happens that you need someone rather more specialised, I will do my best to refer you to the right person.  I don’t pretend to be all things to all people.
